Division One (The Album) by Far Corporation is a distinctly mid-1980s rock production, combining powerful vocals, polished studio arrangements and the large-scale sound associated with producer and musician Frank Farian.
Far Corporation was conceived as a studio-based project bringing together an impressive group of musicians and vocalists. The album is best known for the band’s dramatic interpretation of Led Zeppelin’s “Stairway to Heaven,”which became an international hit and gave the familiar song a very different 1980s production treatment.
Beyond its best-known track, Division One reflects the ambitious studio-rock aesthetic of the period, moving between melodic rock, pop and carefully layered arrangements. The project’s unusual combination of established musicians and Farian’s highly polished production makes the album an interesting piece of 1980s rock history as well as an enjoyable discovery beyond the era’s biggest names.
This edition was manufactured using DMM – Direct Metal Mastering, a mastering process in which the audio is cut directly into a metal master rather than the traditional lacquer. DMM became particularly associated with high-quality European vinyl production during the 1980s and makes this pressing an interesting edition for collectors.
The vinyl is graded VG+, showing only light signs of previous handling and remaining a very good listening copy. The sleeve is graded VG, with normal visible signs of age and previous use while remaining a solid collection copy.
