A Night with Rikke Thomsen – Solo at Borgerforeningen, Svendborg
I had the pleasure of experiencing Rikke Thomsen live at Borgerforeningen in Svendborg — the same stage where I saw her last year, back then accompanied by her full band.
While that concert was fantastic in its own way, there is something truly special about seeing Rikke perform solo.

Hailing from the small village of Blans in Sønderjylland, Rikke has built a strong musical identity around her roots.
She writes and sings in the South Jutlandic dialect, which gives her songs a rare authenticity and emotional weight.
After her breakthrough EP Omve’n Hjemve in 2019 — which later earned her the Danish Modersmålspris for her dedication to dialect and storytelling — she has continued to grow as both a songwriter and performer.
On stage in Svendborg, she moved effortlessly between guitar and keyboard, giving each song its own mood and pulse. Rikke has an exceptional talent for laying every emotion bare — not only in her lyrics, but in the way she speaks to the audience between the songs. It feels intimate, honest, and almost like a shared conversation.
Her stories are relatable, her humour is subtle, and her vulnerability is disarming in the best possible way.
With a strong musical background and a voice that carries both fragility and strength, her songwriting hits even harder in a solo setting.
Every word is given space to breathe, and every silence has meaning. It became one of those evenings where time slows down — where music, presence and storytelling meld into something bigger than the sum of its parts.
It was a beautiful concert: soulful, human and deeply heartfelt. Once again, Rikke Thomsen proved that she doesn’t need much more than a stage, a couple of instruments and her own voice to completely captivate an audience.
