Valerie June – The Order Of Time
Valerie June brings country, blues, gospel and soul together on this 2017 album. Her distinctive voice sits at the centre of a richly textured collection, moving from the intimate opening of “Long Lonely Road” to the rhythmic lift of “Shakedown” and the expansive atmosphere of “Astral Plane”.
Produced primarily by Matt Marinelli, with Richard Swift producing “Just In Time”, the album blends acoustic guitar and banjo with pedal steel, keyboards, strings and horns. Norah Jones contributes backing vocals on several tracks, including “Love You Once Made”, “Shakedown” and “Got Soul”. All twelve songs were written by Valerie June.
This is the US 2017 Concord Records edition on 180 gram vinyl, catalogue CRE00209. Mastered by Greg Calbi at Sterling Sound, with lacquer cutting credited to SF.
