Record of the Month – February 2026

For February, our Record of the Month is a release that pays tribute to the deep roots and lasting spirit of the blues.

Charles Musselwhite has long been a respected figure in American blues, known for his expressive harmonica playing and his ability to bridge traditional Delta blues with a more modern, personal sound. His music carries both history and intimacy — never flashy, but always honest and deeply human.

This particular vinyl edition has been produced with great care and respect for the original recordings. The lacquers were cut directly from the original analog master tapes by Ryan Smith at Sterling Sound, preserving the warmth, dynamics, and natural presence of the music. It is pressed on 180g black audiophile vinyl at QRP in Salina, Kansas, a plant renowned for its consistently high production standards.

The sleeve features an AAA sticker, confirming a fully analog production chain from tape to vinyl. In addition, the release includes an exclusive booklet with listening notes by Andrew Winistorfer, offering thoughtful context on both the music and Musselwhite’s long career.

We chose this record as our February feature because it invites slower listening. It’s a record for evenings when you want to sit back and let the music unfold naturally — where every breath in the harmonica and every subtle groove in the band becomes part of the experience. It’s blues that feels lived-in, reflective, and quietly powerful.

At Mr Hansen Records, we love highlighting records that reward attentive listening and careful production. This Charles Musselwhite release is a fine example of how classic music can be presented in a way that respects both the artist and the listener.

A record with depth, character, and a timeless feel — and our Record of the Month for February.
