VMP 2017 edition • Two 180g LPs at 45 RPM. Selected as Vinyl Me, Please's May 2017 Record of the Month, this edition was remastered by Ted Jensen at Sterling Sound and presented in a gatefold sleeve.
Fiona Apple’s extraordinary 1996 debut Tidal introduced one of the most distinctive voices of her generation. Written while Apple was still remarkably young, the album combines intimate songwriting, sophisticated arrangements and a dark, spacious production that has allowed it to age exceptionally well.
Featuring “Criminal,” “Shadowboxer,” “Sleep to Dream,” “Never Is a Promise” and “Slow Like Honey,” Tidal established Apple as an artist unwilling to fit neatly into the conventional singer-songwriter mould.

Piano sits at the heart of the record, surrounded by percussion, strings and carefully layered instrumentation, while her unmistakable vocal performance gives the album its intensity and character.

This highly regarded 2017 Vinyl Me, Please edition was selected as Record of the Month – Vol. 53 and presents the complete album across two heavyweight 180-gram LPs cut at 45 RPM.

The album was remastered by Ted Jensen at Sterling Sound, giving the music considerably more physical space across four vinyl sides. This edition has developed an especially strong reputation among collectors for its sound quality, with its dynamics, separation and vocal presence frequently singled out for praise.

The package is equally collector-focused. It comes in a gatefold sleeve and was originally supplied with two double-sided inserts and a lyric booklet, making this much more than a straightforward vinyl reissue of Tidal.

For Fiona Apple collectors and listeners looking for an audiophile-oriented presentation of her debut, the original 2017 VMP edition has become one of the most desirable modern pressings of the album.
