Gangway – Happy Ever After
Released in Denmark in 1992, Happy Ever After captures Gangway’s distinctive meeting point between melodic new wave, polished pop and guitar-led alternative rock. The album was recorded and mixed at Easy Sound Studio in Copenhagen during the summer of 1992 and produced and arranged by guitarist Henrik Balling.
Allan Jensen’s understated vocals remain at the centre of the album, supported by Balling’s guitars, Torben Johansen’s keyboards and Cai Bojsen-Møller’s drums and percussion. Songs including “No Need To Be Afraid”, “Didn’t I Make You Laugh”, “Mountain Song” and “Blessed By A Lesser God” demonstrate the band’s ability to combine carefully constructed melodies with reflective songwriting and an elegant Scandinavian production style.
This is the original Danish 1992 vinyl edition issued by Genlyd and BMG Ariola A/S. It was pressed by Sony/CBS in Haarlem and includes the original ten-track programme. As vinyl production was considerably more limited during the early 1990s, this edition is particularly attractive to collectors of Danish pop, new wave and alternative music.
The vinyl is graded Near Mint, showing very little evidence of previous handling. The sleeve is also graded Near Mint and remains exceptionally well preserved.
