Gary Moore – Dirty Fingers is a forceful document of Moore’s early-1980s hard-rock period, combining aggressive guitar work, muscular rhythms and a darker heavy-metal edge. The material was recorded around 1980 but held back before first appearing in Japan in 1983 and receiving its UK release on Jet Records in June 1984.
Produced by Chris Tsangarides, the album brings together an exceptional band: Gary Moore on guitar, Charlie Huhn on lead vocals, Jimmy Bain on bass, Tommy Aldridge on drums and Don Airey on keyboards. Moore takes the lead vocal on the closing “Rest In Peace”. The performances are direct and powerful, with Moore’s playing moving between sharp riffs, melodic leads and extended solos.
Highlights include the dramatic opener “Hiroshima”, the compact instrumental title track, “Bad News”, “Run To Your Mama” and the heavy “Nuclear Attack”. The album also contains a hard-rock interpretation of “Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood”, giving the familiar song a markedly tougher character.
This is the UK 1984 Jet Records edition, catalogue number JETLP 241. It was manufactured and distributed by CBS, pressed at the CBS plant in Aston Clinton and housed in a Shorewood Packaging sleeve.
The vinyl is graded Near Mint, with very little evidence of previous handling. The sleeve is graded Very Good Plus, showing only light signs of careful storage and use.
