Gary Moore – Over The Hills And Far Away presents one of Moore’s defining 1980s singles in its expansive 12-inch form. Released in Europe in 1986 ahead of the Wild Frontier album, the song combines melodic hard rock with a powerful Celtic atmosphere, dramatic storytelling and Moore’s unmistakable guitar work.
This maxi-single includes both the 7:23 extended version and the 4:38 single version of the title track. The reverse side adds the studio recording “Crying In The Shadows” and “All Messed Up”, recorded live at Milton Keynes in 1986. The title track was produced by Peter Collins, while the additional selections were produced by Mike Stone and Tony Wilson.
“Over The Hills And Far Away” became a major European hit, reaching the UK Top 20 and number one in Finland and Norway. This Sonopress pressing was issued by 10 Records and printed in Western Germany by TOPAC, making it the standard European 1986 maxi-single identified by catalogue numbers 608 757 and 608 757-213.
The vinyl is conservatively graded Very Good Plus and presents close to Near Mint, with only very light signs of previous handling. The sleeve is graded Very Good Plus and has a small bend at the upper-left corner.
