Gasolin' – Stakkels Jim, also known as Gas 4, marked an important development in the sound of Denmark's most influential rock band. Originally released in 1974, the album was Gasolin's second collaboration with producer Roy Thomas Baker. The raw edge of the preceding records was expanded into a more polished and powerful production, with broader arrangements, added strings and the band's distinctive balance of rock, melody and Danish storytelling.
Recorded at Rosenberg Studio in Copenhagen with engineer Freddy Hansson, the album features Kim Larsen, Franz Beckerlee, Wili Jønsson and Søren Berlev at a creative high point. Highlights include “Alla-Tin-Gala”, “Bingo”, “Perron ‘Gare Du Nord’”, the epic “Legenden Om Josha Og Ming” and the title track, whose melody draws on “Auld Lang Syne”.
This copy is the Danish CBS 80549 orange/yellow-label reissue, manufactured in Holland. It offers the complete eleven-track album in its original LP sequence and is a strong Danish-rock collection copy.
The vinyl is graded Near Mint, with very little evidence of previous handling. The sleeve is graded Very Good, showing normal visible wear while remaining intact and suitable for an enjoyable collection copy.
