Wanted on Voyage was released in 2014 and grew from a month-long solo train journey through Europe.
 
Ezra filled notebooks with places, overheard conversations and people he met along the way, then turned those observations into songs after returning home.
 
Curiously, the journey never actually reached Budapest, but the imagined city became the setting for his international breakthrough hit.
 
The album’s title was inspired by the “Wanted on Voyage” label on Paddington Bear’s suitcase — a fitting image for a record shaped by movement and discovery. Musically, it blends acoustic folk and blues with polished pop production, while Ezra’s deep, weathered-sounding voice creates a striking contrast with his youthful songwriting.
 
Alongside “Budapest”, the album includes the driving opener “Blame It on Me”, the playful “Cassy O’”, the warm “Barcelona”, the bluesier “Did You Hear the Rain?” and “Listen to the Man”.
 
The combination of memorable choruses, rhythmic guitar and characterful storytelling helped the album reach number one in the UK and become one of the country’s biggest-selling albums of 2014.
