This Decca vinyl edition presents highlights from the celebrated Herbert von Karajan recording of Puccini’s La Bohème, issued under catalogue number SET 579. Mirella Freni and Luciano Pavarotti lead a distinguished cast, supported by the Berlin Philharmonic and the chorus of the Deutsche Oper Berlin.
The selection preserves the opera’s dramatic arc while concentrating on its most memorable scenes and arias, including Rodolfo and Mimì’s first meeting, Musetta’s waltz and the deeply moving final act.
