This 1971 MAM pressing of Gilbert O’Sullivan’s debut album is presented in its original gatefold format under catalogue number 98 013. The record captures the distinctive early period in which O’Sullivan combined piano-led pop, music-hall wit and sharply observed songwriting.
Himself includes “Nothing Rhymed”, the breakthrough song that established O’Sullivan internationally, alongside characterful album material such as “Matrimony”, “Permissive Twit” and “Houdini Said”. Gordon Mills’ production and Johnnie Spence’s arrangements give the album a fuller setting without losing the intimacy of O’Sullivan’s voice and piano.
The vinyl is graded Very Good Plus (VG+), visually close to Near Mint, with very little evidence of previous handling. The gatefold sleeve is graded Very Good Plus (VG+) and shows only light, age-appropriate wear. This is a clean and appealing copy of an important early-1970s singer-songwriter LP.
