Søs Fenger – Vuggeviser
Released in 2007, Vuggeviser presents one of Denmark’s most beloved vocalists in an intimate and beautifully understated setting. Søs Fenger lends her warm, expressive voice to 15 traditional lullabies and cherished Danish songs, including Solen er så rød mor, Den lille Ole med paraplyen, Jeg ved en lærkerede, Elefantens vuggevise and I skovens dybe stille ro.
Søs Fenger first rose to prominence during the 1980s as the lead singer of the Danish band News before establishing a highly successful solo career. Over the years, she has moved effortlessly between pop, jazz and interpretations of the Danish songbook, becoming widely admired for her distinctive voice, emotional warmth and elegant phrasing.
Produced and arranged by acclaimed Danish jazz musician Chris Minh Doky, Vuggeviser avoids the usual overly playful approach to children’s music. Instead, the familiar melodies are treated with tenderness, restraint and musical sophistication. The result is a peaceful album made for bedtime, quiet family moments and adults who still treasure the songs of their childhood. The album was subsequently nominated for Danish Children’s Album of the Year.
This original Danish CD edition was released by CMC Entertainment in 2007. A lovely and enduring collection that brings together generations through some of Denmark’s most familiar melodies.
