Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ third studio album, It’s Blitz!, captures the New York trio at a decisive point of reinvention. Released in 2009, the record shifts part of the band’s raw guitar attack toward widescreen synth-pop, new wave and dance-rock without losing Karen O’s intensity or the dramatic dynamics of Nick Zinner and Brian Chase.
The opening run of “Zero”, “Heads Will Roll” and “Soft Shock” supplies the album’s immediate pulse: vintage synthesizers, electronic textures and sharp rhythmic hooks meet ecstatic vocals and a sense of controlled abandon. Elsewhere, “Skeletons”, “Runaway” and “Hysteric” reveal a more spacious, atmospheric side, while “Dull Life”, “Shame and Fortune” and “Dragon Queen” retain the group’s jagged rock energy.
Produced by Nick Launay and longtime collaborator David Andrew Sitek, It’s Blitz! balances disco momentum with cinematic melancholy. It became one of the defining alternative albums of the late 2000s and remains an ideal entry point into the band’s catalogue.
This European 2009 pressing is presented on heavyweight 180-gram vinyl and retains the original hype sticker highlighting “Zero” and “Heads Will Roll”. This copy is factory sealed.
